The 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi
The 2014 Winter Olympic Games were held in the beautiful city of Sochi, Russia. Sochi is a very special city. It is located between the tall, snowy Caucasus Mountains and the warm, blue Black Sea. Long ago, Sochi was a popular place where people went to relax and get healthy because of its sunny weather and clean air.
For the Olympics, Sochi built amazing new places for sports. For example, The Fisht Olympic Stadium, The Bolshoy Ice Dome, The Iceberg Skating Palace were built. The Fisht Olympic Stadium served as the site of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games. Athletes from all over the world came to compete. They skied down the mountains, skated on the ice, and played exciting hockey games. It was very cool to watch!
The Russian team was great! They won many medals. The symbol of the Games was a cute polar bear, a leopard, and a rabbit. They were the mascots.
The Olympics showed the whole world how beautiful and modern Sochi is. It is a city where you can swim in the sea in the morning and go skiing in the mountains in the afternoon! The Games made everyone in Russia very proud.
